A few months ago I was watching a Collared Kingfisher which I thought was yawning, or else exercising its bill. My ornithological ignorance was dramatically demonstrated when the bird suddenly regurgitated the remains of a small crab it had eaten earlier. Of course, it had been retching.

So when I saw this Forest Kingfisher start "yawning" I remembered my earlier mistake and was expecting the appearance of a pellet, and sure enough, out it popped (inset photo).
